Ultrasound dye test for ovarian torsion falls short
NCT ID NCT04522219
First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study aimed to see if using an ultrasound contrast agent (a dye injected into the blood) could improve the diagnosis of adnexal torsion (ovarian twisting) in women with sudden pelvic pain. The standard ultrasound often misses the condition. The study planned to enroll women scheduled for surgery, but it was terminated early after only 11 participants, so the results are limited.
