Allergy to dye used in scans: does it stick around?
NCT ID NCT07409051
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study follows 100 adults who had an allergic reaction to contrast media (dye used in CT scans and other imaging) to see if the allergy persists over time. Participants will undergo repeat skin testing to check for ongoing sensitivity. The goal is to understand how long the allergy lasts and what factors might make it more likely to continue.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could help doctors better predict who will remain allergic to contrast media, improving safety for future imaging scans.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It only measures allergy persistence and risk factors, so it won't directly change patient care.
