Mind over back pain: expectations could boost or block treatment

NCT ID NCT07507604

First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at whether what you expect before a spinal manipulation treatment can change how much pain relief you get and how your body responds to inflammation. Adults with chronic low back pain will watch a short video of someone having a positive, neutral, or negative experience with the treatment, then receive the same manipulation. Researchers will measure pain, movement, stress, and blood markers to see if expectations make a real difference.
