First seen Jun 26, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a contemplative practice called Feeding Your Demons (FYD), adapted from Tibetan Buddhism, can improve psychological well-being, body image, and self-compassion in women aged 30-60. Participants will be randomly assigned to either FYD or a standard mindfulness practice for 8 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in self-perception, body appreciation, and happiness at several points, including a 6-month follow-up.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Feeding Your Demons (FYD) contemplative practice
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new, accessible way for women to improve body acceptance, self-compassion, and overall mental well-being.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study with only 122 participants, and the intervention is compared to mindfulness, so any added benefit may be small. Results rely on self-reported measures, which can be biased.
