Contact lens as medicine? early trial tests new way to treat eye disease
NCT ID NCT04225611
Summary
This early-stage study is testing a new way to deliver medicine for a recurring eye condition called cystoid macular edema, which causes swelling in the center of the retina. Researchers are evaluating a special contact lens designed to slowly release a steroid drug (dexamethasone) over one week. The main goals are to see if the lens is safe, comfortable, and a feasible alternative to eye drops or injections for a small group of up to 6 participants.
