Can a brain monitor spot pain in sedated patients?
NCT ID NCT07413848
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether the CONOX monitor, which measures brain waves, can detect pain in 120 adults undergoing urological procedures like cystoscopy under sedation. Researchers will compare the monitor's readings to traditional signs like heart rate and blood pressure. The goal is to see if this device offers a better way to assess pain when patients cannot speak.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to better pain monitoring during sedation, helping doctors adjust pain relief more accurately.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study, not a treatment trial. The monitor may not prove reliable enough for routine use.
