New study aims to make hospital discharge safer for Non-English speakers
NCT ID NCT07032818
First seen Jan 18, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether an extra phone call from a nurse after hospital discharge helps patients who speak Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Cape Verdean, or Vietnamese understand their care instructions better. About 60 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either standard discharge education or an additional educational call with translated written instructions. The goal is to see if this approach improves patient understanding and reduces problems like medication errors or return trips to the hospital.
