Compression stockings may replace antibiotics for preventing skin infections

NCT ID NCT07549594

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether wearing compression stockings alone can prevent repeat episodes of erysipelas (a bacterial skin infection) as effectively as stockings plus daily antibiotics. About 200 adults who have had at least two infections in the same leg will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. If compression alone works, patients could avoid long-term antibiotic side effects.
