Heel or no heel? study tests best bandage for leg ulcers

NCT ID NCT04046120

First seen Mar 31, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looked at two ways of wrapping compression bandages for people with open leg ulcers caused by vein problems. One method covered the heel, the other left it uncovered. The goal was to see if leaving the heel out changes the pressure of the bandage or affects comfort. About 100 adults with venous ulcers took part, and researchers measured the pressure under the bandage at different times.
