Tooth-Colored fillings face off: which lasts longer?

NCT ID NCT06667271

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested two ways to fill cavities in back teeth: direct composite fillings (applied directly into the tooth) and indirect composite fillings (made in a lab and then cemented in). 90 adults with cavities participated. The goal was to see which type holds up better over time, especially for large cavities. Indirect fillings may be more durable and require less tooth removal.
