Healing words: Letter-Writing eases shame in eating disorder patients

Summary
This study looks at whether a two-week letter-writing exercise focused on self-compassion can help people with eating disorders feel less shame and more ready to change. About 160 adults with anorexia, bulimia, or binge-eating disorder will be randomly assigned to write compassionate letters or join a control group. The goal is to improve current treatments and recovery rates.
