NCT ID NCT07255235

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will compare three devices used to help breathing tubes into the windpipe (intubation) in ICU patients. Doctors wearing face shields will use either a C-Mac video laryngoscope, a Pentax video laryngoscope, or a traditional Macintosh laryngoscope. The main goal is to see which tool allows successful tube placement on the first try. The study includes 84 adults aged 18-65 who need planned intubation.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this study could identify which laryngoscope works best when healthcare workers wear face shields, improving intubation success in ICUs.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (84 participants) comparing devices, not testing a new treatment. Results may not apply to all patients or settings.
