First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This study tested two methods of removing excess fluid from around the lungs in 60 adults with large pleural effusions causing severe shortness of breath. One group had fluid removed by manual suction, the other by gravity drainage. The goal was to see which method is faster, removes more fluid, and causes less pain or coughing. Results will help doctors choose the best technique for patient comfort and efficiency.
