First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study compared two methods to break up large stones in the pancreatic duct: external shock waves (ESWL) and a newer technique using a tiny scope inside the duct (SOPIL). The goal was to see which works better to clear stones and ease pain. Thirty adults with chronic pancreatitis and large stones took part. The results help doctors choose the best approach for symptom relief.
