Scientists simulate new radiation methods to tame deadly heart rhythms
NCT ID NCT07590908
First seen May 16, 2026 ยท Last updated May 16, 2026
Summary
This study used computer simulations to compare three types of radiation (photons, protons, and carbon ions) for treating a dangerous heart rhythm called ventricular tachycardia. Researchers created treatment plans based on real heart scans from 23 patients who were scheduled for standard catheter ablation. The goal was to see if newer particle therapies could better spare healthy heart tissue while still targeting the problem area. No patients received actual radiation; this was a planning study to guide future treatments.
