Spine surgery pain relief showdown: dexamethasone vs. dexmedetomidine

Summary

This study compares two medications, dexamethasone and dexmedetomidine, added to a standard nerve block for pain after lower back surgery. 150 adults having elective lumbar spine surgery will receive one of the two additives along with a local anesthetic. The goal is to see which combination reduces the need for strong painkillers (opioids) and improves pain scores in the first 48 hours after surgery.
