New study tests if a different talk therapy can beat standard treatment for anxiety

NCT ID NCT06937892

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study compares two types of talk therapy for people with anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety, social anxiety, or PTSD). One therapy, metacognitive therapy (MCT), focuses on changing how people think about their own thoughts. The other, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), is the current standard treatment. Researchers want to see if MCT works better and is more cost-effective. About 86 adults in Sweden will take part, and their progress will be tracked for up to a year.
