Pregnancy iron showdown: which supplement wins for mom and baby?
NCT ID NCT06014983
First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026
Summary
This study compares two types of iron (ferrous fumarate and ferrous bisglycinate) in prenatal supplements to see which one better boosts iron stores in pregnant women and their babies. About 172 healthy pregnant women in Vancouver will take one of the two iron types daily from mid-pregnancy until delivery. Researchers will measure iron levels in blood and stool samples to find the most effective option with fewer side effects.
