Summary
This study tested two different fluids used to protect the heart during bypass surgery. 124 adults having coronary artery bypass surgery received either a modified Ringer's acetate solution or a histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate solution. The main goal was to see which fluid helped the heart return to a normal rhythm more quickly after surgery.
