Heart study: does extra testing improve artery treatment?

NCT ID NCT01881555

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at two ways to decide how to treat people with multiple blocked heart arteries. One method used standard X-ray pictures (angiography), while the other added a special pressure test (FFR) to see which blockages truly need treatment. Over 900 adults with stable or recent heart problems took part. The goal was to see if using the extra test leads to fewer heart attacks, strokes, or repeat procedures over one year.
