New study tests best timing for stents in esophageal strictures
NCT ID NCT06991049
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study compares two standard treatments for benign esophageal strictures that don't respond to usual care. One approach starts with frequent dilations and only uses a temporary stent if dilations fail; the other places a stent early on. Researchers will track how quickly the esophagus stays open to at least 14 mm, along with side effects and recurrence. The study enrolls 20 adults who can commit to follow-up for at least 2 years.
