Which crown material is best for your molars? new study aims to find out
NCT ID NCT04272112
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares three types of all-ceramic crowns for back teeth: glass-ceramic, high-translucent zirconia, and zirconia with a thin porcelain layer. Researchers want to see which material looks best and lasts longest. 90 adults who need a crown on a premolar or molar are taking part. The crowns will be checked for fit, surface quality, and patient satisfaction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help dentists choose the best crown material for back teeth, balancing durability and appearance.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study focused on comparing materials, not testing a new treatment. Results may not apply to all patients or tooth types.
