First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at 1,000 women who had breast reconstruction with implants right after mastectomy and also received radiation therapy. Researchers compared two implant types—polyurethane-coated and non-polyurethane-coated—to see which had fewer problems like scarring (capsular contracture) or implant loss. The goal is to help doctors choose the best implant for women who need radiation after breast cancer surgery.
