Scientists seek better brain scan for Alzheimer's clues

NCT ID NCT05361382

Summary

This study aims to compare and standardize two different types of brain scans used to measure tau protein tangles, a key marker of Alzheimer's disease. It involves 822 participants with varying levels of cognitive function, from no impairment to Alzheimer's dementia. Participants will undergo repeated brain scans and cognitive tests over 18 months to see which scan method provides more consistent and useful information for future research and clinical trials.
