Eye-Tracker lets ICU patients 'Talk' without speaking

NCT ID NCT07251530

First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests a new high-tech device that uses eye-tracking to help patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) who are on breathing machines communicate. Many of these patients are awake but cannot speak because of a tube in their throat, which can be frustrating and scary. The device lets them use their eyes to select words or icons on a screen. The study will enroll 60 patients to see if the device is easy to set up and use.
