Simple blood test could spot colon cancer early

NCT ID NCT07168876

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing a new blood test called Delta-HLD to see how well it can detect colorectal cancer in average-risk people aged 45-75. About 3,200 participants will give a blood sample before their scheduled screening colonoscopy, which will be used as the gold standard for comparison. The goal is to see if this liquid biopsy can accurately identify cancer and advanced precancerous growths.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Delta-HLD liquid biopsy test
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a simpler, less invasive blood test for colorectal cancer screening, potentially increasing screening rates.
What could go wrong
This is an early validation study, not a treatment trial. The test may not be accurate enough to replace colonoscopy, and results may not apply to higher-risk groups.
