New device aims to prevent dangerous leaks after colon cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT06402188

Summary

This study is testing a new medical device called the ColoSeal ICD System. It's designed to protect the healing area after colon cancer surgery from contact with stool for up to 21 days, which could help prevent dangerous infections. The study will enroll 15 adult patients with rectal cancer who are having surgery that requires reconnecting their colon. Researchers will check if the device can be safely placed and removed, and if it helps prevent complications.
