Surgeons test new technique to reduce dangerous leaks after colon cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT07098182

Summary

This study is testing if surgeons can safely preserve a specific artery (the left colic artery) during surgery for colon, rectal, or ovarian cancer. The goal is to see if keeping this artery open provides better blood flow to the remaining colon, which could help it heal better and reduce the risk of a dangerous leak at the surgical connection. Researchers will measure blood flow during surgery in 50 patients to compare the two techniques.
