Could a collagen shield ease pain from a scratched eye?

NCT ID NCT07225699

First seen Nov 10, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special collagen shield placed on the eye can reduce pain and the need for painkillers in people who come to the ER with a scratched cornea (the clear front part of the eye). About 60 adults with a scratch in one eye will be randomly assigned to get either the collagen shield plus standard care or standard care alone. Researchers will track their pain levels over the next 3 days to see if the shield helps them feel better faster.
