Supplements could soothe red faces: new trial tests collagen and MSM

NCT ID NCT07345195

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether taking daily supplements containing collagen, MSM, and vitamin C for 16 weeks can reduce facial redness and spider veins in healthy women aged 35–65. Ninety participants with stable facial redness will be randomly assigned to one of two supplement doses or a placebo. The main goal is to see if the supplements improve redness compared to placebo.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

collagen, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), and vitamin C dietary supplement

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple supplement to help reduce facial redness and visible blood vessels.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage, small trial (90 people) testing dietary supplements, not a drug. Results may show no benefit over placebo, and effects may be modest.
