Chilling solution: cold water rinse tested to stop dangerous ERCP complication

NCT ID NCT07330284

Summary

This study is testing whether rinsing a specific area with cold water at the end of an ERCP procedure, in addition to the standard preventive medicine, can further reduce the chance of developing pancreatitis. About 950 patients undergoing ERCP at the University of Kansas Medical Center will be randomly assigned to receive either a cold water rinse or a room-temperature water rinse along with their standard medicine. The goal is to see if the cold water provides extra protection against this painful and common complication.
