Freeze or fry your back pain? new study pits cold against heat

NCT ID NCT07214844

Summary

This study aims to see if a new cold-based nerve treatment works better than the standard heat-based treatment for long-term low back pain. About 110 adults with chronic back pain will be randomly assigned to receive either the cold (iovera) or heat (radiofrequency) procedure. Researchers will track participants' pain levels and daily function for about a year to determine which treatment provides better and longer-lasting relief.
