Ice packs vs. muscle pain: can cold speed up recovery?

NCT ID NCT06813690

Summary

This study tested whether applying cold therapy after exercise helps reduce muscle soreness, swelling, and inflammation. Researchers had 48 healthy young adults perform exercises designed to cause muscle soreness, then compared those who used cold packs with those who didn't. They measured pain levels, swelling, and blood markers over 72 hours to see if cold therapy improved recovery.
