Sun-Triggered cold sore cream put to the test

NCT ID NCT06558838

Summary

This small, completed study tested a new cream containing two antiviral medicines against the over-the-counter treatment Abreva. It involved 40 adults who get cold sores triggered by sun exposure. Researchers used UV light to intentionally trigger an outbreak, then compared how well each cream prevented blisters and helped the sores heal.
