Ice pack therapy tested to ease pain after knee surgery
NCT ID NCT05572359
Summary
This study tested whether using a cold and compression brace for the first six weeks after a total or partial knee replacement helps patients recover better. Researchers wanted to see if this therapy could reduce pain at rest, lower the need for strong painkillers (opioids), and improve overall function and satisfaction. They compared 208 patients who used the brace five times a day to patients who received standard care without the special brace.
