Common Anti-Inflammatory drug could be new weapon against heart attacks

NCT ID NCT07349875

Summary

This large study is testing whether adding a low-dose anti-inflammatory drug called colchicine to standard heart medications can better prevent serious heart problems. It will involve about 3,800 adults with stable coronary artery disease who have plaque buildup in their arteries but no current severe blockages. The goal is to see if reducing inflammation with colchicine lowers the risk of future heart attacks, strokes, or the need for heart procedures over several years.
