Could common drugs stop heart attacks in diabetics?

Summary
This large study is testing whether two existing, low-cost medications—colchicine (an anti-inflammatory) and aspirin (a blood thinner)—can prevent serious heart problems in people with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk. It will enroll 10,000 adults aged 55-80 who have diabetes but no prior history of heart disease. The goal is to see if these drugs, alone or combined, can reduce deaths, heart attacks, and strokes.
