Could a gout drug improve heart attack recovery?
NCT ID NCT06543082
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tests a new approach for people who recently had a heart attack and received a stent. Instead of taking two blood thinners (aspirin plus another drug), participants will take only one blood thinner (ticagrelor) plus a low dose of colchicine, a drug typically used for gout. The goal is to see if this combination reduces the risk of another heart attack, stroke, or major bleeding. About 490 adults will be followed for 12 months.
