Frail Seniors' brain clues: amyloid and memory decline under the microscope

NCT ID NCT03129269

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This completed study looked at 344 frail adults aged 70 and older who had memory issues. Researchers checked for amyloid plaques (a sign of Alzheimer's) using brain scans or spinal taps. They then tracked how memory and daily function changed over two years to compare those with and without Alzheimer's-related brain changes. No treatments were tested; the goal was to better understand the link between frailty, memory loss, and Alzheimer's pathology.
