Archers aim higher with Brain-Boosting balance drills

NCT ID NCT07070427

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether doing mental tasks (like counting backwards) while balancing on a BOSU ball can improve archery accuracy. Thirty licensed archers will train for 12 weeks, with one group doing cognitive-based balance exercises and the other doing standard balance exercises. Researchers will measure shooting scores, balance, and joint position sense to see if the extra mental challenge helps performance.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

cognitive-based balance exercises

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that adding mental tasks to balance training improves archery accuracy, offering a new training method for athletes.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 30 archers, so results may not apply to all athletes. The effect on shooting performance is uncertain.
