NCT ID NCT05121519
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at whether stopping coffee drinking can reduce the chance of atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) returning after a procedure called cardioversion. About 200 adults who drank at least one cup of coffee daily were randomly assigned to either quit or keep drinking coffee for six months. Researchers tracked heart rhythm recurrences and side effects to see if coffee abstinence made a difference.
