Listening to the ear during surgery: can a new tool improve cochlear implant results?

NCT ID NCT03685461

Summary

This study tested if giving surgeons real-time feedback about the inner ear's response to sound during cochlear implant surgery leads to better outcomes. It involved 88 people getting a cochlear implant, who were randomly assigned to have the feedback system on or off during their procedure. The goal was to see if this feedback helped place the implant more accurately and preserve more of the patient's remaining natural hearing.
