Brace vs splint for broken arms: which hurts less?

NCT ID NCT05118087

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looked at two common ways to treat a broken upper arm bone in the emergency room: a pre-made brace (Sarmiento brace) or a custom splint (coaptation splint). 80 adults with isolated arm fractures were followed for 2 weeks to see which method caused less pain and required fewer pain pills. The goal was to find out which approach makes patients more comfortable right after the injury.
