Can former addicts as coaches break the cycle of crime and drugs?

NCT ID NCT05834881

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether using trained coaches—some with personal experience in recovery or the justice system—could help young adults (ages 18-26) on probation or parole reduce their substance use and build better lives. It aimed to see if this coaching approach was practical and acceptable, and whether the coaches' own background made a difference in helping their clients stay drug-free, find work or schooling, and avoid re-arrest.
