Can breathing CO2 help clean the brain?

NCT ID NCT07357090

Summary

This study is testing whether breathing small, controlled amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) can help move waste proteins out of the brain and into the blood. Researchers are enrolling 200 adults, both with and without a history of traumatic brain injury, to see if this process works differently in healthy and injured brains. The goal is to understand a potential new mechanism for clearing brain waste, which could inform future treatments.
