First seen Jun 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a structured problem-solving approach called CO-OP (Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance) for adults who have had a stroke or traumatic brain injury. Participants learn a 'Goal-Plan-Do-Check' strategy to tackle everyday tasks like dressing or cooking, with a therapist using guided discovery. The trial compares this method to usual rehabilitation to see if it improves performance of daily activities and quality of life.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) behavioural intervention

What this could lead to

If effective, this approach could become a standard rehab method to help people with brain injury regain independence in daily tasks.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The intervention requires active participation and may not work for all individuals.
