New Family-Focused program aims to tackle childhood obesity

Summary
This study tests a new way to help families prevent and manage childhood obesity. It combines two proven programs: one for all first-grade students and their families, and another for parents of children who are already overweight or obese. The goal is to improve teamwork between schools and health clinics to catch problems early and support families. About 126 parents of children aged 6-12 with overweight or obesity will take part.
