Iron nanoparticles could supercharge radiation against cancer
NCT ID NCT07491783
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This Phase 2 trial tests an experimental iron nanoparticle injection (CNSI-Fe) given directly into tumors along with standard radiotherapy. The goal is to see if the combination shrinks tumors better than radiation alone. The study will enroll 52 adults with head and neck cancer or soft tissue sarcoma who are candidates for radiation therapy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
carbon nanoparticle iron suspension (CNSI-Fe)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new way to boost radiotherapy's effect on solid tumors, potentially shrinking tumors more effectively.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 2 trial with only 52 people, so results may not apply widely. The injection is experimental and could cause side effects like pain or swelling at the injection site.
