First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looked at whether it's possible to diagnose congenital CMV infection and confirm hearing loss in newborns who failed their newborn hearing screening, all before they turn one month old. Researchers tested 235 newborns in France using saliva and blood samples. The goal was to see how quickly and reliably these diagnoses could be made, which could help guide early treatment and support.
