Scientists probe why Last-Resort schizophrenia drug works better

NCT ID NCT05741502

Summary

This study aimed to understand why the antipsychotic drug clozapine is more effective for people with schizophrenia who don't respond to other treatments. Researchers compared blood levels of inflammation markers in a small group of patients taking clozapine versus those taking other antipsychotics. The goal was to see if reduced inflammation explains clozapine's unique benefits for severe symptoms and suicidal thoughts.
